We are thrilled to announce a Special Seminar that will take place on December 3 at 11 a.m. in the Auditorium at Fundacion MEDINA, Fundación PTS, Granada.
The Seminar will feature Prof. Gilles van Wezel from Leiden University, delivering a talk entitled “Exploring Novel Chemical Space in Actinobacteria: from Regulatory Networks to International Collaboration.”
The experience of Prof. van Wezel in this field promises to provide valuable insights and stimulate interesting discussions, making this event an excellent opportunity to connect with Granada's vibrant scientific community.
Via Zoom, (registration required)
About the speaker: Prof. Gilles van Wezel was appointed full Professor in Molecular Biotechnology in Leiden in 2010. In 2012, the group moved from Chemistry to Biology to unite the Microbiology and Applied Microbiology groups in a new Centre for Microbial Biotechnology. Prof. van Wezel research is focused on providing novel insight into the complex regulatory pathways that control growth, development and antibiotic production of filamentous actinomycetes, and apply this knowledge for improved commercialization of these important industrial microorganisms. A major driving force behind his research is the strong resonance between fundamental and applied research, which in his view should be mutually supportive and cross-feeding.
