Dr. Víctor González-Menéndez has been awarded the best DOCTORAL THESIS PRIZE FOR RESEARCH IN TAXONOMY, PHILOGENY AND DIVERSITY of the specialty in the years 2018 and 2019. This award is granted by the SPECIALIZED GROUP IN TAXONOMY, PHILOGENY AND MICROBIANA DIVERSITY of the SPANISH SOCIETY OF MICROBIOLOGY.
This award was granted during the XVIII edition of the scientific meeting on the Group on Taxonomy, Phylogeny and Diversity held online from October 21 to 23, 2020, where Dr. Gonzalez-Menéndez and predoctoral researcher Rachel Serrano presented the oral communication "Xerophytic lichens as a source of fungal diversity and potential biopesticidal agents".
Dr. González-Menéndez invited to close the XVIII TAXON conference with a presentation of the results derived from his PhD thesis entitled "Induction of metabolic diversity in endophytic fungi associated with arid plants of Andalusia".
